Econ Writing Skill

Economics paper writing skill for Claude Code and Codex

Open-sourcePaper WritingLLM as Tool

AT A GLANCE

Intended use: Economics researchers using Claude Code or Codex to improve manuscript structure and prose.

Pricing model: Open-source. Open-source availability does not establish free hosted usage, model access, or compute.

Public-source review: . Documentation checked; product performance was not tested.

LIMITATIONS

  • Requires an Agent Skills-compatible assistant; Claude Code and Codex are the documented clients.
  • The skill is MIT-licensed; assistant access and model usage are separate.
  • Authors must verify generated claims and references; a simulated audit is not journal peer review.

FEATURES

  • ▸ Four modes: draft sections, rewrite prose, review text, and audit a manuscript.
  • ▸ Guidance for empirical, theory, mixed, structural, and descriptive papers.
  • ▸ Section templates, identification-strategy writing guidance, and LaTeX table and citation conventions.
  • ▸ Author-input placeholders and explicit checks for references, numbers, and statistical interpretations.

What it is

Econ Writing Skill adds economics-specific writing guidance to an AI assistant. It helps organize a research question, contribution, methods, results, and related work, adapting the structure to empirical and theory papers. Its review mode checks prose; its audit mode uses three simulated reviewer perspectives.

How to use it

Install the complete skills/econ-write directory using the project's installation guide. The documented standalone invocations are /econ-write in Claude Code and $econ-write in Codex. Supply the manuscript or section and your actual findings; the skill uses author-input placeholders when details are missing.

Scope and cost

This is a skill installed in your assistant, rather than a hosted writing service. The MIT licence permits reuse with its notice requirements. Model access depends on your assistant setup. Check every citation and numerical claim, and adapt suggested conventions to your target journal.
